Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Capt. Sam Williams
June 22, 2003
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

The third annual Lee King Benefit Buddy Tournament was held last weekend and was a great success. We had 106 boats register and the fishermen brought in some great catches. Go to www.leekingbenefit.org for all the results and photos. Stratos Boat Company came down with their weigh-in trailer to help out. Dave Barnett and Gerry Franks are the greatest. What an awesome sight when you looked down on our tournament site from the enterance high on the hill. Stratos has become a serious "Partner for a Cure" in donating a 2004 model 285 pro for us to raise research money with. We will sell $100.00 chances and draw for the boat, with a 150 hp motor, on June 12, 2004. Information will be on the leekingbenefit.org soon or call 334-687-6266. We had a record number of kid's for the Fun Day before the "big guys" weighed in. Two men received Jesus Christ as their Savior during the weekend.

Bass fishing is good even though the river is muddy from all the rains. The water is up and the early bite is great. Spinners and buzz baits are working well. The later bite is really tough right now. The fish have not moved to the summer pattern yet. The ledge fish are tough and when you catch one or two you must move on to locate more. There are a large number of bass with roe still in them. The crazy weather patterns just keep them confused.

Catfish are doing great in this dirty water condition. They make the best table fare, no doubt.

Blue Gill are hitting crickets along the edges.

Crappie are getting tougher as it warms up. Not many night fishermen are out now, the mosquitos have taken over with all the rain.

Be sure and visit the LKBBT web site mentioned above and keep up with the progress of our fund raising efforts. We have a new CD ready for delivery by Twice Robin, written for and about little Lee King and the NP kid's, called' Until Then."

'Till next report,

God Bless & Good Fishn'

Capt. Sam
