Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

The river is still full and this has caused the bass to stay in the shallows all summer. They have yet to stage on the ledges like normal for this time of year. It is giving the tournament boys a fit. They are used to finding the bass stacked up on these ledges and it is not uncommon to sit on one good location and cull 'till you head for the scales. Now they forget about the shallows and spend their time catching one or two on a ledge and moving to another and doing the same thing. On an overcast morning, and we have had a string of them, stay on the shallow grass and keep the spinner baits and finesse baits working. If the sun does become a factor, back off to the nearest drop off and work a Jig or Carolina rig. These fish are not going to travel very far. The bait is plentyful right there.
The Bulegill are doing great on crickets along the edges. Crappie are slowing down but still being caught in the mornings. Find bridges and overhangs and fish the shadowed edges. Jigs and little spinners are my favorite this time of year.
Catfish are always hungry and waiting for someone to feed them. It is relaxing and a fun way to fill the dinner table.
Hybrids are hitting live shad around good structure. Some very nice ones are coming in.
Keep an eye on www.leekingbenefit.org Coming soon you will find out about an exciting way you can help be a "Partner for a Cure" and win a fully rigged Stratos bass boat.
"Till next time,
God Bless & Good Fishn'
