Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Capt. Sam Williams
March 14, 2005
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama

The water level is 187.99, temp.around 54 degrees with some creeks getting up to 60 in the back shallows. The water is stained but really in good shape considering the high winds.

Bass are starting to work the shallows more as the water warms up. The hydrilla is acting like an incubator for the bait and also holding the heat keeps the bass up off the ledges longer. Mann's one minus and finesse baits are doing well on the hydrilla. Carolina rigs and deeper cranks are working on the ledges. The spawn should be in full force soon if these warm days stay consistent. Kinami's Flash and the Nories bug ar ereally gettig The action this spring. Black and Gold are my favorite colors.

Crappie are really starting to do good on jigs tipped with a minnow trolling the mouth of the creeks. Using 4 and 6 pound test, a three or four pound striper will keep the drag singing.

Catfish are always cooperating for the fisherman who wants a good lazy trip of relaxation and some great food.

Blue gill are slow and will hit a beetle spin or worm while cat fishing.

Remember the Lee King Benefit Buddy Tournament we do to raise research money for the Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation. June 11, 2005 at Lake Point State Park in Eufaula, Alabama is the site.
