Lake Guntersville Fishing Report – Early November 2025

Capt. Jim Leary
November 2, 2025
Lake Guntersville - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been changing like the weather — up, down, and unpredictable. We've had strange bite windows lately where the fish fire for a few minutes and then completely shut down. It's almost like they haven't gotten the memo that it's supposed to be fall feed-up time on Lake Guntersville.

We're seeing scattered schooling activity, but it hasn't stayed consistent. The back-to-back cold fronts really shook things up, and these Florida-strain bass just haven't settled yet. But the silver lining is this: every year, this kind of weather pattern sets up an incredible bite. Once the fish get stable again, they'll feed aggressively — and that's when we start catching the giant Lake Guntersville bass the lake is known for.

If you've been thinking about making a trip, this stretch is one of the best windows of the year to fish with Guntersville Bass Guides™.

Changing Conditions on the Lake
The grass mats are taking a beating. High winds and rain have torn up some of the bigger ones, leaving smaller, broken mats behind. That's great news for frog fishing — with these {mcold, clear nights

those mats first thing in the morning.

When the sun warms the mats, they'll slide back in to feed again later in the day. Those windows can be short but are explosive when you're in the right area.

Cold fronts and Florida-strain bass don't mix — they hate sudden changes. But this week looks much better: highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, clear nights, and stable pressure. That's the perfect recipe for a rebound bite.
