Smith Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Smith Lake
September 6th, 2011
The last couple days I've been doing a lot of bass fishing. We caught fish all day Monday and Tuesday. We started with topwater and caught some nice fish including a 4 pound spot on a Vixen. We used almost every moving bait you could and caught fish on all of them. Hottest baits over the past couple days were Lucky Craft crankbaits(r.c.'s and slim shad d-9) and 3" to 4" swimbaits. We caught most of our fish fishing in depths of 5 - 15 feet.
I did a little crappie fishing late Tuesday night. We bounced around lights and filled up the cooler. The fish are there, just picky at times. It mite take you a half hour of less to limit out or two hours.
As for stripes, we caught a couple each day, but did not spend much time fishing them. As I was with friends and over the past month have spent all my time chasing stripe. We decided to go after bass most of the time, I needed the change of pace. I'll be on the water this afternoon, loaded and ready. As I am spending all weekend fishing stripe. I'll post a report Saturday morning about how the stripe fishing was today and Friday.
Check out my website, I have a new page up. Umbrella rigs, custom tied with several options. If your looking for something different then swimbait umbrella rigs that everybody has. Look mine up
