Smith Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Smith Lake
June 1st, 2011
With my son visiting family, that meant more time on the water for me. So, I figured I would do a little night fishing by myself. I launched at Hames Marina and fished for bass ‘til dark. I caught several fish in the 2 to 3 pound range. All came in from 30 feet deep off of shaky heads and drop shot. I fished shallower but only found small fish. As dark approached I used the last daylight to hit some secondary points for stripe. I worked an area with two different size scroungers and worked a couple different techniques. My hummingbird depth finder looked like the 4th of July. With fish from 20-40 feet, I boated three stripe all around ten pounds and had a 20 plus come off by the boat. After losing the biggest fish, night set in and I headed to the lights to get some crappie for tomorrow's lunch. I put twenty in the cooler and called it a night. No real monsters, just plenty of pound crappie. So if you interested in fishing Smith Lake day or night, give me a call. I can put you on the fish. Also if you're interested in my 50 off shore structure waypoints give me a call.
