Smith Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

I spent Friday morning and Saturday afternoon out on the water. Friday morning we picked up a mixed bag of bass and stripe on topwater. Throwing super spooks and vixens. We boated several nice 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 lbs spots and our biggest stripe weighed 11 lbs. We ended up catching a 19 pound stripe on a double bucktail rig. Friday was good but Saturday afternoon and even were better.
Saturday the plan was a mixed bag. We started off using shakey heads with roboworms, not to far from big bridge. After boating several small ones and a couple slots. We moved to a bluff wall and started working some crankbaits and blade baits. After boating more of the same we switched to topwater. We ended up catching two over 3 lbs, and several slot. We uthen switched over to stripe and headed south. We pulled umbrella rigs and boated a lot of 5 - 14 lbs stripes. We got a couple off topwater throwing big red fins and big jerkbaits before dark. I had let them know, that the big crappie had started to show back up at the lights at night. It took use stopping by two lights to find what we were looking for. Big slabs rolling through the light, everywhere from 1 foot and deeper. We caught a box full and called it a night. I spent Sunday relaxing with family and taking the kids out.
