Smith Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishing Report - December 15th, 2014
Smith lake, Alabama by Mike Walker
Things are way different this year, or topwater bite is not happening and the majority of the fish are already deep. This time last year we had the best fall and early winter topwater action in 10 years. How things change from one year to the next. Most fish are between 40-80 feet and the majority are between 50-60 feet deep. The bites good, fish are grouped up hard and when you find them your going to hook up. Live bait between 4-6" is working best. I'm fishing middle to upper ends of the lake that have deep water around. This is the time of year some of our biggest fish are caught. If you can take the cold, usually the reward is good. Numbers have been good over this past week. Checkout our website for more info www.fishing24-7guideservice.com
