Smith Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Smith Lake
November 3, 2011
With November here I would like to remind everybody that this is customer appreciation month. If you fish with me in November you will receive $10-$30 in Mark's Outdoors gift certificates(one per person, Max of three people per trip)
After spending the last couple weeks fishing for bass. I spent the last two days fishing stripers. There is still not much action on topwater, but live bait is a different story. Yesterday I fished toward the dam and in rock creek. Most of the fish we caught were in 25-40 feet. We boated several fish over 12 pounds and finally got one that weighed 23 lbs. Once we located the fish, we circled back and used planer board on one side of my boat. I use planer boards so I don't spook the fish with pass after pass. This allows me to sit off to the side, but have my baits where I want them. I used a 1/2 oz weight most of the time with a circle hook. I have several stripe trips booked this month so I'll be fishing them most of the month. It should be long before they start coming up top.
