All it takes to get the blood running on a cold morning like today is the news of a 70 lb. monster striped bass caught on the warrior river on February 28th, 2013. I bet there's at least five boats out the this morning trying to hook up with what they hope will be the next world record for land locked stripers. Will it is still being looked into, it should be the new IGFA World Record. The current world record is 67 lbs. 8 ounces. That record has stood since May, 1992. While I've said for years, I think there stripers in Smith lake that have to weigh over 60 lbs. this gives me hope. That on one magical day I too could be in the right place, at the right time and hook into one of these beast. It want be long till people on Smith lake get there best chance to set a record. With warmer weather in the ten day forecast, things will be heating up quick. I expect mid March - mid April to be your best chance to hook a wall hanger. Like my friend always told me, you want ever catch one if your lines not in the water. With that said, I'll be on the water morning, afternoon, and nights. Trying to put my own monster in the boat.
