Pagosa Springs - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishing on the local steams in the San Juan National Forest has still been very good over the last few weeks. The water levels have been up and down with the recent thunderstorms, I do not think we have had a sunny day in a week and half. The fish are still eating ant and hopper patterns with various bead head droppers off the dry. With the last few storms we have had snow up on the peaks above 10,000 feet, and the leaves are starting to turn. This all adds up for it to be a great time to get some of the last fishing in the mountains.

We even got rain in NM on the San Juan River. The fishing has been very good on the Quality Waters of the San Juan. Some of the best patterns depending on the day have been a red larva, followed by a fluffy baetis, and a chocolate kf with a gold rib. We also had an interesting day with heavy rain and muddy waters. We waited it out and had an incredible afternoon at baetis bend, no one on the river.
