Eastern Long Island Sound and Block Island Sound

Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past weekend the Kingfisher took out several groups for stripers and blues. Domingo Mateo's group got live bait with ease but the stripers didn't cooperate saturday morning. Saved the day with all the blues they wanted in the Race. Saturday night Jeff Holt came out again fresh from his rest fighting the 72 pound wahoo he caught with us a couple weeks ago. They weren't disappointed as they got 5 out of 8 38" plus stripers on live porgies. Finished up catching one after another hammer blues to 15 pounds chunking. Sunday morning stripers were reluctant to cooperate again but the blues were on fire. Still were able to manage one 34" bass on a diamond jig. Sunday night 3 big stripers came aboard along with the usual bluefish bonanza. The bigger stripers should begin their migration back south soon. And blackfish season opens up on the 25th of sept. If it is anything like last season blackfish is just about a sure thing. We still have a few open dates for our blckfish/striper combo trips. Give us a call if your interested in booking a trip. 860-573-3614
