Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Striped Bass fishing in CT “PHENOMINAL”

Been fishing every day the past week so haven’t been able to put in a report. The fishing has been just phenomenal. Every day our customers have been catching the fish of there lives. Here is a summary of the past week:

Joe Solito and group scored there limit of bass from 36” to 42” on Friday the 20th, Sibyl Pellum and family became lifers by getting there limit in about 2 hours (every fish was bigger than any fish they have every caught) the biggest went 44” about 40 lbs. Danielle P. and family/friends came for an afternoon trip and hit bluefish right off the bat plus pulled in a few fluke for the dinner table(no live bait for the trip so they didn’t get into the amazing bass fish that are around. Dwight Wooten, a regular with us, limited out with 10 bass up to 45” on Monday the 23rd. Allen from Colchester Toyota also limited on on cows up to 44” on tues. Bill Wilk, son and daughter (10 and 12 yr. olds) held on for life with fish from 36” to 43” on wed. They also got some nice fluke to finish off the trip. Thurs. the 26th was a double with the morning group slamming bass one after the other with bluefish mixed in. Thursday afternoon, regular Robert and crew limited out with 10 bass to a huge 49” 45lb. striper.

In short the fishing has been ridiculous for live bait fisherman. There are big bass that have taken up residence on most of the reefs in our area and they are only feeding on live bait. It’s sad watching people on other charters trolling wire for small bass and blues as we are pulling in 30 and 40 pound fish right in front of them. OH well, more lunkers for us.

GET IN ON THE ACTION!

All in all the fishing has been amazing and I see it continuing thru August as long as the weather lets us get out. There are millions of bluefish around, you read about the bass we have been catching, and surprisingly enough the fluke have been over the keeper size limit (which is much better than last seasons fluke action).

Anyone interested in getting in on the action should call us ASAP, we still have some dates available for August. Give us a call at 860-573-3614 and we’ll set you up. I guarantee you will be hooked!
