Slammer Striper fishing this week

Capt. Mark Anderson
July 24, 2016
Long Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past week was the best of the year for big Stripers and huge Bluefish. Trips during the week saw Striped bass to 40lbs landed in big numbers. One trip totaled 15 Bass between 33-44", all were caught using live bunker that is plentiful in the river. At times it was a challenge getting the baits past the ravenous bluefish that were up to 17lbs. The weekend saw the Bluefish taking over. Sea Bass action was a pick as porgies are becoming more plentiful and fluke are hard to come by.
