Branford Reefs slowing Down

Capt. Pat Juliano
July 18, 2008
New Haven - Saltwater Fishing Report

Its been a very tough year mid sound. One day the fishing is great and the next day they are gone. Its been that way all season.
Branford area has been slow the past week. Again there is plenty of bait but there is a lack of fish.
Stripers have slowed down due to the warm water temps. Blue fish is very slow also, which is very odd. Usually this time of year you cant get a bait to the bottom due the the large amount of blues.
Porgy fishing has been hit or miss. Falkners Island has been the go to place with fish topping out at 2.5 pounds. You will have to bounce around from rock pile to rock pile until you find them.
The Fluke fishing has picked up at the New Haven break walls. There are some keeper fishing being taken on the squid, shiner combo. You will have to work thru a good amount of shorts to find the keepers.
