New Haven - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Fishing out of the Harbor was hit or miss the past few days. Blues are hot and heavy in the area and are eating the baits as soon as they hit the water, then gone the next day.
The Stripers seem to be about 2 weeks behind due to the water temps being low. We are getting fish but not the numbers we have seen the past few seasons. The bait of choice has been bunker chunks. We have taken a couple on live bunker but the blues seem to get to them first.
There are still bunker schools in the Harbor and all along the shore line.
From the shore, the West Haven Sand Bar is still the hot spot. There are many blues and Schoolie stripers being caught along with a weakfish here and there. The Q river is a close second with many keepers Stripers and countless bluefish.
