New Haven Harbor, Guilford & Stratford

Capt. Pat Juliano

New Haven - Saltwater Fishing Report

Reel Crazy had a great opportunity to fish with Darly and George, The owners of RedNeck Custom plugs. The came all the way down from Mass to catch some Bass.

We met at Oyster Point Marina 4:30am. Filled the live well with bunker. Took a 30 minute boat ride to a reef that was holding fish the day before. Upon reaching the "Hot spot", we were greeted with a lot of hickory shad feeding on the surface. It was a great sign to see them there. We setup the rods dropped down the bunker and Daryl hooked up on the first drift. A nice fat 35 incher. They sent the girl back to the water.

A few drifts later George hooks up. After a short battle and a few long runs we net a 41 inch 25 pounder. after a few drifts of blue fish and bite offs we hook up with doubles but this time Daryl had the big boy. 39 inches and about 23 lbs.

The rest of the morning was about the same. A little on the slow side but steady action. The guys landed 6 fish and went back home with a couple of coolers of fish.

It was a great day with tons of laughs.

This mornings water temp was 59 degrees and we had a light East wind.
