New Haven - Saltwater Fishing Report

This Past few Days was the first time we sailed in about 2 weeks. Fishing has picked up since our last time out. This weekend We had the Sound Anglers Club Blackfish tourney. It was the heaviest 2 fish for the weekend.
Aboard Reel Crazy was Lee, Dave, And Ricky. Saturday we headed out in showers and 4-5 foot seas. Due to the seas we couldn’t fish where we want to. We ended up running into the thimble islands for cover.
Saturdays fish were on the small side but we have plenty of action. Hermits were the hot bait. We limited out in about 2 hours with fish up to 6 pounds and a lot of throw backs.
Sunday forcasted for better seas. We left the dock at 6 am and quickly found 4 footers. Again we ran into the thimble islands. The fishing was not as good as the day before. We stayed in there for about 2 hours. The Tide changed and the seas layed down to 2-3’s . we made a 2 mile run west to the latest tog hot spot.
Within minutes were into 5-6 pounders and limited the boat out in an hour. Today cut green crabs were the hot bait and we were fishing in 14 feet of water.
Our biggest 2 blacks were a total weight of 12.34 pounds.
Stripers in the New Haven area is still on the slow side. So are being picked up trolling 9ers along the walls.
Blue fish is still hot and can be caught pretty much any where you drop a bait.
