Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We've been taking out many charters with old and new clients as everyone realizes the summer is quickly coming to an end. Some days we catch a boatload of keeper sea bass and fluke; other days we get a few bluefish; other days we get a keeper porgy or two. But we should be seeing more bluefish and porgies than we have this year.
We'll hit a hot spot on one day, and the next day it's barren. One boat just isn't enough to cover all the territory where fish have been rumored to be feeding on the surface and to get there before the action stops.
At least fuel prices have come down, so it's easier to cover lots of miles, criss-crossing the Sound to find the fish when the action is slow close to home.
There's plenty of peanut bunker around, so the bluefish should soon start to move into the Norwalk Islands in greater numbers--especially since the water temps are beginning to drop.
And we're still waiting to see some striped bass, which have been scarce all year.
