Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

After a layoff of several days we finally got back on the water Friday morning, with Robert Remin of White Plains NY and his son, Daniel, a resident of West Hartford. We again had to deal with winds throughout the trip, but the Remins—both great fishermen—did well with bluefish up to 12 pounds, striped bass up to 26″, and a nice mess of porgies up to 14″.
The week ended with a Sunday morning trip on what turned out to be a perfect day on the water. Aboard were father and son, Pete Duarte, visiting from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and his son, Michael—a resident of Norwalk. We began working around the Islands, using tube & worm, and our passengers caught an 11-lb bluefish and lost a couple of others. As the water was flat, we changed our tackle and our strategy—and moved into the middle of the Sound to try some jigging. Our twosome knew what they were doing, and they brought in blues from 7-12 pounds and stripers up to 30″. The Duartes' trifecta ended with a haul of more than three dozen porgies, keeping ten for the table.
