An Early Snowfall and an Early End to the Fishing Season

Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
We had planned on pulling MY BONNIE out of the water on November 12, but we'll be doing it a bit sooner because of the very cold weather and high winds we've been experiencing here for the past two weeks, including a heavy snowfall last Saturday. Not too many clients are interested in going out in these conditions.
Once the boat's on land we'll get her ready for the long winter layover, and then in late November we'll be heading for Sebastian, Florida where---if all goes well---our southern charters will commence by mid-December.
All in all, this season was somewhat disappointing. The bluefish weren't huge, and the striped bass weren't where they should be. Although the porgy catch was bountiful, and we got a lot of nice fluke, the blackfish were hard to find, and we never did get to enjoy the fall migration of large blues and lunker stripers. Perhaps the diehards who are willing to keep their boats in Long Island Sound through early December will see that kind of action---which used to be something we could count on every November.
