Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We've had our boat in the water for about ten days now, and we've done some scouting, but there's nothing exciting to report. Some local fishermen tell of getting decent-sized stripers in the early morning hours--using fresh bunker chunks. Others have gotten schoolies throughout the day--as well as 5-7 pound blues finning near the surface in the middle of The Sound.
I was hired to take a New York City party out on their own vessel, and on Sunday afternoon we spent about three hours catching small striped bass off of Westport, using sandworms.
We're still waiting for some top-water action around the Norwalk Islands, but friends have caught nice striped bass in The Race, off the Obstruction Buoy and also Can 13. Keeper fluke have been caught off of Port Jefferson, and porgies and blues seem to be moving in off of Sunken Meadow.
