Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Saturday morning we sailed with Lawrence O'Halloran of Wilton--who just returned from mountain climbing in Washington State; this was his first trip with us. He had fun with bluefish up to 13.5 pounds, caught on a swimmer lure--as well as one striped bass at 26".
In the afternoon our Wilson Point regulars, Virginia and Michael Kamsky, were aboard--along with Virginia's nephew, David. They had non-stop porgy action and kept 12. They then reeled in a lot of blues up to 8 pounds.
Sunday's passengers included another "My Bonnie" regular, Robert Remin, along with his brother-in-law, Lawrence Askowitz of White Plains, and Remin's nephews, Josh Askowitz 9, and Gideon 5. We started the trip hooking and then losing two large bluefish in Norwalk Harbor--encountering a lot of boat traffic generated by the in-water boat show. We then moved towards Darien in pursuit of porgies; and everyone enjoyed steady action with the scup until the tide slacked off.
On Wednesday we had aboard Myles Slater of Pound Ridge NY. We had fairly low temps for this time of year, but we were able to plug up large bluefish 8-10 pounds around the Norwalk Islands.
Thursday's trip was with Brian Swee, Lou Gizzarelli, and Todd Thum--all of Newburgh NY. It was another cold morning--with NE winds 15-20 mph--that kept us from venturing too far from the shoreline. We worked the Norwalk River and did well, boating four large blues and losing five at the boat. There was also one striped bass that came over the side, measuring about 23".
