Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
Wednesday afternoon we fished with Brian Scanlon of Ridgefield and his 12-year-old son, Max. It was a good trip, with father and son bringing in porgies up to 16″ along with some fluke and some striped bass.
Friday morning we sailed with Larry Dwyer of the Garden State, with his son, Bill, a U.S. Coast Guard attorney, and Larry's grandson, A.J. After a slow start we made our way eastward and had a nice passel of fluke, with keepers up to 22″. The catch also included some striped bass and a few porgies.
Saturday morning's trip was with Mark Toner of Norwalk and his son, Ryan, and his buddies, Alex and Tyler. This was a birthday celebration for Ryan, who caught a striped bass at our first stop. Then everyone got into the action, catching 19 fluke up to 21″.
On Monday our party was made up of Poughkeepsie residents, Gary Lattrell a co-worker, Becky Carroll, and her friend, Leah Chamberlain of Massachusetts. The catch of the day were large porgies, as well as some fluke. Small bluefish were on the top for a few minutes, but they couldn't get any to hit their surface lures.
