Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had our 2008 maiden voyage on Saturday--with regulars Paul Thompson and Neil Boyd of New Canaan, as well as Neil's dad, Ron Boyd of Ogden, Utah. It was a fairly pleasant day, sandwiched in between two days of high winds and some rain. The trip started out in a somewhat ho-hum manner, but after about two hours we found some nice striped bass, with the three anglers bringing in a baker's dozen--the largest measuring 23".
Water temps are still in the mid-50's, and the recent rains and high winds have delayed the arrival of ideal fishing conditions in local waters. But, based on seasonal trends of the past several years, we know the situation will change very soon. Despite recent fears about "global warming", it just seems to take longer every year for the Northeast to warm up after each winter.
Our reservations book is beginning to show some activity, with the most interest being shown for the upcoming major holiday weekends. Please check this site for updated reports.
