Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Thursday we fished with David Kent, a British Columbian native, currently living in Dubai. It was windy, so he couldn't use a fly rod, which he prefers, but–he boated 12 striped bass and one bluefish on light tackle with bucktail lures.
Friday's trip was with Rick Zak, his son, Ricky, and James Bellamy–all of Newport Beach, CA, along with Harrison Shaw of Chatham NJ. We picked up the party in Westport around 2pm, and decided to try for some fluke; and they did well–bringing fish in up to 22″–as well as some blues. They kept a few fish for a family dinner. It was a great day for all.
We sailed Saturday morning with Thomas & Laurie Stamatin of Norwalk, along with Tom's father Ed–of Greenwich–to celebrate both Ed's birthday and Father's Day. Tom is a chef at nearby Sono Seaport Restaurant, which features fresh seafood served directly on the water. Working around the Norwalk Islands and Westport the party had a great day catching striped bass, bluefish, porgies and fluke. Some of the catch was taken home for a family dinner.
Father's Day was a double header for My Bonnie. We had to deal with high winds throughout the day, but our morning passengers, three brothers–Roberto, Fabio, and Mauro Rossi–and their friend, Curtis Stout, all from Poughkeepsie NY, enjoyed bringing in porgies and striped bass on light tackle with artificial lures. The afternoon trip was with Michael and Bonnie Schwartz of Pound Ridge, and their teenage daughters, Carey and Carlie. It was chilly and bumpy, but they were good sports and brought in some porgies and fluke, caught while drifting worms.
Summer arrived yesterday, and we've already had temps in the very high 90's. Although the change in the weather is uncomfortable, it will doubtless assure the arrival of fluke and porgies in great numbers. We have several trips booked for the next couple of weeks, and we're hoping for solid catches for our clients.
