Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Friday was a banner day. We had heavy rain storms Thursday night and early Friday morning, but we sailed at 10am with Norwalker, Mike Fiore and his daughter, Nicole. Also aboard were Vincenzo Stancerone of Catskill NY, Bradley Belota of Houston TX, and Greg Lawrence of Shelton CT. Our catch included keeper striped bass, keeper fluke, more than four dozen bluefish–all brought in on light tackle. Most of the blues were released. Fortunately, we got back to the dock shortly before our area was hit with violent thunderstorms and downpours that lasted for more than an hour.
On Saturday morning our passengers were Brian Scanlon of Ridgefield and his sons–Max and Brice–along with nephew, Matt, who lives in Center Reach, Long Island. It was a good day, with the youngsters enjoying a nice catch of porgies and non-stop bluefish–with one coming in at eight pounds.
We did double duty on Father's Day, with two trips on Sunday. The morning passengers included Frank Chieffalo of Danbury with his son and daughter, Frank Jr. and Kelly; also aboard were their friends Joe Macari of Danbury and his daughters, Jenna and Kara. Our catch included four keeper fluke up to 7.5 pounds (22 caught,) and a passel of bluefish.
In the afternoon we had Easton resident, Capt. Paul Koopmann (former skipper of Salty Flies Charters in Stamford CT,) his three sons-–Cassidy, Dakota and Curtis–-and his fiancee, Magdelena. The family caught 12 fluke, with two keepers in the lot, and unlimited bluefish, keeping a few for the table.
