Lots of Rain All Week...We Lucked Out With Two Trips

Capt. Sal Tardella
June 20, 2009
Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

The continuous rain for most of the week limited our ability to get out on the water. But we were able to enjoy a beautiful day on Friday--and sailed with Joe and Barbara Wittman of Somers NY and their friend, Jeff Zimmerman of Purdys NY. The weather was ideal, and the fish were very cooperative. We caught bluefish and bass on the surface for more than two hours, and then for a change of pace we did some tube & worming, which also yielded fish for the three anglers, all of whom were very good fishermen.

Chris Oliviero of Maryland and his father-in-law, Desmond Barry Jr. of Greenwich, CT, spent Saturday morning aboard "My Bonnie" as a Father's Day celebration for the two men. The action was almost steady for the full trip--with blues and bass coming in on light tackle. More than 20 fish were boated, and all were released. Among the catch-and-release were some keeper-size porgies.
