Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

My good friend and sometimes-mate, Emilio Pandolfi of Danbury, went out with me early last week to see what was happening on the Sound following several days of heavy winds and high seas. We began jigging at some of our favorite spots in the middle of the Sound, and we enjoyed non-stop action with bluefish up to 14 pounds. After a couple of hours we were arm weary, and we decided to look for blackfish--making a drop off of Darien, where we caught some nice blacks, keeping two for the dinner table.
High winds haunted us for the rest of the week, and Friday's trip had to be aborted after less than two hours--with five-foot waves coming over our bow.
On Sunday afternoon we were fortunate to have better weather, and we went out at 2pm with Westport brothers, Peter and Larry Ackerman--and Larry's son, Max. We began fishing in deep water and hooked up within 20 minutes--enjoying non-stop action jigging up bluefish for almost three hours, with the largest fish weighing 14 pounds. The Ackermans kept ten, and we ended the trip fishing for blackfish.
