Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We fished on Thursday with "My Bonnie" first-timers, David Booth of Norwalk and his father-in-law, Craig Leishman--visiting from Orem, Utah. It was another day of high winds and light rain, but we found striped bass off the Saugatuck and brought in ten, using bucktail lures.
Saturday's weather was warmer and the seas flatter, and our passengers--also sailing with us for the first time--were Alan Banner, Mark Salvati, and Jim McDermott (visiting from Florida.) We went west and found large bluefish and striped bass, including one keeper about 15 lbs. All the fish except one were caught on bunker chunks.
Sunday was a father-and-son event, with three dads and their boys celebrating the 9th birthday of Jordan Berger. Along were Jordan's dad, Scott Berger--and Jack Boyle and son, Joey--and Stefan Mykityuk and son, Zachary--all from Armonk NY. The weather couldn't have been better as we left the dock early in the morning, and all aboard had a great time--bringing in striped bass (including one keeper and one "almost" keeper) as well as bluefish in the 3-5 pound range. A backyard birthday barbecue, featuring fresh striped bass filet, was planned for the afternoon.
On Tuesday we had one passenger, Miles Slater, a resident of Bedford NY. We left the dock around 12:00 noon and fished the Norwalk Islands for most of the trip--first trying some plugging, to no avail--and then chunking with cut bunker. The weather couldn't have been better--warm, sunny, no wind--and our passenger had a great time bringing in seven striped bass, including four keepers, and dropping another four. Slater kept two fish--one about 14 pounds and the other about 17.
