Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
Friday was another scorcher, but we fished with David Stueber of Darien and his 11-year-old son, Andrew. We started out looking for some fresh bunker, after which we moved toward mid-Sound, where we anchored up. After a considerable amount of chumming we started to land blues 8-12 lbs, and ended up with many, with the Stuebers keeping five for the table.
We had a day off on Saturday, but on a windy Sunday afternoon we went out with four visitors from China, guests of "My Bonnie" regular, Virginia Kamsky of Wilson Point and NYC. Our party was comprised of inexperienced anglers, with one seasickness victim, but we managed to pull in some nice porgies up to 14″.
On Monday we fished with Steve Margolis and his daughter, Laura–their second trip this summer–and we had non-stop action in deep water, jigging up bluefish weighing up to 12 pounds. Some larger fish were lost at the boat.
Tuesday's trip was with Michael Cohen of NYC and Westport, who brought son, Benji, daughter, Sofia–and his nephews Zac and Ari, visiting from New Jersey. We had to teach the kids how to use jigs, but they brought in some blues up to 8 pounds and a 27-inch striped bass. We then switched over to porgy rigs, and they brought in a passel–up to 14″.
