Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We fished three times three this week. On Sunday we caught schoolie bass around the Norwalk Islands and across the Sound near the Northport stacks; and while fishing for bass, a keeper fluke was also caught. The next day, a cold and damp morning, we took out Tim McGraw of Greenwich, who was entertaining two Russian clients with their first trip on Long Island Sound. I gave the visitors a quick lesson in casting and got them into bass up to 22” off of Westport. We also traveled to Long Neck Point and proceeded to Stamford Harbor, where we’d heard reports of bunker schools and large stripers beneath them over the weekend, but none were there on Monday. We finished that trip at Todd’s Point, where the trio boated a few more schoolie bass. Water temperatures are still ranging between 49-51 degrees which is inhibiting the action, but as soon as the waters are steadily warmer, there’ll be an upswing with bass and blues close to home.
