Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
It's been another very busy week with several double-headers.
Paul Stokes of Westport took his second trip with us this season. Working off of Cockenoe and Westport his party had a nice day with a substantial number of school bass, all caught on poppers and bucktails with Mr. Twisters.
With Eric Borden of Poughkeepsie and three of his friends we fished around Green's Ledge Light. They brought in 11 striped bass--some on top with chrome Creek Chubs and the others with sand worms.
Ken Lane, visiting from Denver, Colorado, had a great time with two local buddies, catching bass up to 27".
Alan Douville--and his son, Alan Jr. and 9-year-old grandson, Alex--enjoyed a super morning (although there was lots of heavy rain for a while) catching 14 striped bass--with two keepers in the lot. Young Alex caught one of the keepers, and he was a real pro in fighting the fish.
Peggy Eisen of Darien and friend, Kristen, and Peggy's son, Nick, also had to suffer through some rainfall, but they hooked into some striped bass, three keeper fluke, and a nice bag of large porgies; but the scup had to be released, as they're still not in season in Connecticut waters.
Mike Caputo of Norwalk and a friend visiting from out of state had a good morning with almost a dozen schoolie bass up to 26". Most of the fish were caught on bucktail lures and a few on Creek Chub plugs.
Bass fishing is still holding strong, with very large stripers coming off of Green's Ledge, but the blues are taking their time in hitting our Islands in meaningful numbers.
