Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

More double headers...and another extremely busy week for "My Bonnie."
Dan McQuirk of Stamford and a friend worked around the Norwalk Islands, bringing in nine striped bass--all on top-water action.
Derek Shapiro of Greenwich brought his dad, Nat, a Long Island resident, for their first trip with us. Derek boated 8 bass on a fly rod, and 8 others came in on bucktails--all up to 25". Lots of porgies were caught and released, as well.
We had a two-boat charter for 12 employees of the Diego Guza Corporation (importers of beer and ale) and had a so-so day with some fluke, bass, bluefish and porgies. All the fish were released.
Mike DeSimone was treated to a birthday trip by his son, Mike, Jr. and daughter, Kerry. Mike owns two restaurants in Somers, New York--Somer Field and The Lantern. The family had a wonderful day, catching eight striped bass up to 26", more than a dozen porgies, and two keeper fluke--19" and 20"--all caught within the Norwalk Islands. (Porgies had to be released; the Connecticut 2004 season will open on July 23.)
Chris Czoka of the Garden State brought along three buddies--all first-timers in Norwalk waters. They fished off Green's Ledge Light and boated a 33-inch bass, using a bunker chunk. We then moved to the Northport power plant, where we found some bluefish--just blindcasting--and we finished off around Sprite and Cockenoe Islands, where they brought in 9 stripers up to 25".
Neil O'Shea of Norwalk had his grandson, Luke--and other family/friends, Don and Frank--fished with us on Sunday afternoon. We started out with very slow action, but the day was saved when we moved up to Sherwood Island, off Billy's Rock, where we found a pod of bass. We drifted over them, using bucktail/Mr. Twister combos, and we tallied 18 bass ranging from 16-24" as well as three fluke that included two keepers, 19" and 20".
Today we're resting!
