Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We started out the week with Jim Anderson and Armand Swain of Acton, Massachusetts; it was their first trip wish us and a good one! They jigged up bass up to 24" and some blues off of Green's Ledge Light, where we left them after four hours, still hitting. They tallied 88 stripers and four blues, all of which were released.
Mark Clegg and his sons, Matthew and Jesse, from upstate New York, fished with us on a rough morning with high winds and low temps. We managed to find bass up in the Norwalk River, catching them on light tackle. The fishing was good, but the conditions proved somewhat difficult for the boys, one of whom got seasick, but that didn't stop them from reeling in their catch and finishing off the day.
We took out Ryan Bassett of Stamford and a friend in the middle of the week--another cold and windy day, with seas three-to-four feet--first making our way through the Islands, to no avail. I decided to head west, and we found birds working the surface off of Green's Ledge Light, where the twosome hauled in striped bass nonstop for an hour and a half, tallying about 40. This was their first experience with such heavy action, and they were thrilled. All the fish were released.
On our final day of the season we had a double header. In the morning Jim Conzulman III returned for his fourth trip this year. He's caught blues on all his previous excursions with us and has wanted to get into striped bass. He was rewarded for his patience with an exciting experience that included 34 bass and four blues, all caught on jigs off the Obstruction Buoy and on the north side of 11B. In the afternoon Dave Basile of Wilton sailed with us for the second time this year. We started off at 11B's south side, where we did very well jigging up a mix of bass and blues. When we moved further south to the 30-foot mark, we found more bass and blues. We finished off the trip and the season at the O.B. which was also productive.
We'll be pulling "My Bonnie" out of the water on November 17; our next reports will be coming from Sebastian, Florida, in early December. If you want to fish with us on the Indian River and in the Sebastian Inlet, you can contact me via e-mail at [email protected], or telephone me at 772-589-4952 after November 29.
I want to thank all the fishermen and sightseers who sailed with me this year; we had lots of new clients in 2004 as well as many old-timers returning throughout the season--with some of them indicating their intentions to fish with us aboard our bay boat in Florida this winter; we hope they can make it; it's a great way to get away from the cold and refresh the spirit until spring arrives.
I wish everyone a Bountiful Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy & Healthy New Year.
