Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had our first scouting trip on Sunday morning (Emilio Pandolfi and I, plus a boxful of sandworms.) Emilio baited his hook with some worms, and I tried fishing with a white bucktail/chartreuse Mr. Twister--to see which bait worked better. We hit most of the regular areas around the Norwalk Islands and also in Westport.
Winds were 15-25 mph, and the water temperature remained at 49 degrees for the entire trip, during which we had not one hit for all our trouble. This lack of action was not unexpected, however, although we'd heard word that some flounder and small schoolie bass had been caught earlier in the week--locally and inside Greenwich Harbor. It's been reported that most of these fish were caught on sandworms.
We expect to be sailing again on Saturday, after which we'll update this report--hopefully, with more exciting news!
In any event, it's great to be back on Long Island Sound after four months of Florida fishing, and we're looking forward to a season that was as good as the one we enjoyed in '04.
