Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

The local waters are just starting to warm up and the striped bass have found out about it. Although we sailed twice early in the week, with only a slow pick on each occasion, last Sunday the Cullin family of New Canaan enjoyed steady action with stripers up to 23". It was fairly chilly, and we had a few showers, but everyone was happy with their catch.
We've heard reports that the bluefish have arrived in Bridgeport, and very large striped bass are hitting bunker schools at night on the Long Island side of the Sound, especially in Hempstead Harbor--as well as being jigged up at the O.B. It's a matter of being lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time, but it won't be long before the Norwalk Islands will be filled with blues and larger stripers--morning, afternoon, and evening; and we'll be ready for them.
My summer weekend bookings are starting to fill up, so I encourage everyone to call as soon as possible if you're interested in fishing on a Saturday or Sunday during the next few months. Of course, we sail Monday through Sunday for those fortunate enough to get out on the water during a weekday.
