Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hal DeBona of Vermont and two buddies had a pleasant morning trip, with nice bass up to 26". All were caught on light tackle using chrome Creek Chub poppers and bucktails.
Bob Greeff Jr. of Stamford returned for his second trip this season, and he brought his father, Bob Sr., who resides in North Carolina, and Bob's 5-year-old son, Matthew, as well as his nephew, Rick, who works in England. Greeff's party had a more comfortable excursion than he had very early in the month, and they brought in bass up to 26", and also dropped a keeper fluke right at the boat; it looked to be 4-5 pounds.
Dominick Prisco of Greenwich and his co-workers, Zach Wasson and Jack Weickart--just relocated from Texas-- had a great Memorial Day trip. It was an afternoon excursion, and considering the heavy holiday boat traffic, we did well, tucking in around some hidden shorelines that many other boats can't navigate because of the rocky topography and shallow depths. The trio caught striped bass ranging from 24-27", all on light tackle.
One of our regulars, Derek Shapiro of Stamford, brought his 85-year-old father for their first trip this year. Working around the Norwalk Islands and Westport, father and son had great fun with school bass and one short fluke.
