Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Nolan Kerschner of Norwalk entertained his brother, Jim--who lives in Florida--and Nolan's grandson, Bryan Kerschner, also of Norwalk--to help celebrate Bryan's high school graduation. They had a great afternoon catching bass on bucktails throughout the Norwalk Islands, tallying 16 stripers up to 24".
Rick Bradt, Senior VP of Jefferies & Company in NYC entertained five colleagues who assembled at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club in Greenwich. The boys could only spend about two hours aboard the boat because they had other business-related events scheduled before and after the trip, but they managed to bring in a 25-pound striped bass along with some blues off the Cows in Stamford.
Doug Hurwitt of Rowayton celebrated his birthday with his son and two of their friends. The foursome fished midSound and caught blues on top, using a chrome Creek Chub. When they'd had their fill of bluefish, we moved closer to Westport and finished off the day with 13 bass hooked with bucktails.
Ray Gilbody and Lynn Youdin of Norwalk brought along one of Ray's employees, Jaime, for a trip on a very hot morning. They tallied 14 striped bass and lost one bluefish--using bucktails off of Copp's and Sheffield Islands.
Fishing has finally begun to pick up, with lots of blues in the middle of the Sound and significant bodies of schoolie bass throughout Westport, Norwalk and Darien waters.
Chunkers have been scoring on large bass, too, but it's still a case of being precisely at the right spot at the right time because the stripers are still in a transient mode.
