Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We never did see a rainbow even after eight days and eight nights of heavy rains. Instead of the rainbow our area was battered with two days of blustery winds as soon as the rain stopped. Gale-force warnings scared off a lot of would-be fishermen, and we had just one charter last week and six cancellations because of the weather. I know the fish are out there, growing fatter and stronger as they bulk up for their annual migration.
Our one stalwart party was from New Canaan. Ernest Todd and his 13-year-old son, Matthew returned for their second trip with us season. They brought along two friends, Roman Godzich and his son. Everyone had to deal with a very bumpy ride, but they all caught schoolie-sized striped bass, using bucktails, and one bluefish weighing five pounds.
