Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We closed out our season with two trips last Sunday, a perfect autumn day.
In the morning Rob DeVore of Ridgefield and his son, Andy, and two of Andy’s friends sailed with us for the first time. We found bass on the surface at the Saugatuck River, and they had non-stop action, boating more than 60—ranging between 18” and 24”. All were caught on bucktails with chartreuse Mr. Twister, and all were released.
In the afternoon Derek Shapiro of Stamford and his dad, Sidney, returned for their annual trip, bringing along friends, Bob, Gary, and Gary’s son. It was a great afternoon, with everyone bringing in striped bass and hickory shad, using both fly rods and spinning reels with bucktail lures.
We’ll be pulling “My Bonnie” out of the water this week, as we make ready to head south to Sebastian, Florida, the day after Thanksgiving. Our Florida charters should begin in early December.
I want to thank all of my passengers, many of whom have become “regulars” throughout the years. I truly hope some of them will be able to do some fishing with me over the winter. We use different bait down there, fishing for many different species on the Indian River and in the Sebastian Inlet. All information, as well as updated fishing reports will be on my website, www.mybonniecharters.com December through early April.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
