Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Sunday Bob Siegel of Stamford sailed with us for the first time. He had a great time catching striped bass up to 25”—using bucktails—and some bluefish hooked on the surface off of Westport. It was a wonderful initiation for Siegel, and he’s already booked another date with us, and he’ll be bringing along his wife to share in the fun.
Tuesday morning Jim McMahon of Ridgefield returned for his third trip this season. Jim’s wife, son, and his mom and dad were all aboard. It was a very blustery day, and we didn’t see bluefish anywhere, but everyone got into a nice catch of porgies, sea bass, and striped bass up to 26”. The 26-incher was a tagged fish, and McMahon will be returning the tag to the American Littoral Society, so he’ll be receiving a nice-looking certificate for participating in their program.
We have a lot of charters scheduled for the next few days, and we’ll keep our readers advised of what’s going on in the local waters.
