Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Friday’s trip was with A.R. Caputo of Huntington NY and three of his business colleagues. We started out working around the Islands for bass—catching fish up to 26”. When we jigged in mid-Sound we found some blues up to 10 pounds and some more stripers—ending our day with a total of 15.
Saturday Roger Eustance of Wilton and his children, Abby and Ryan—along with their friend, Erin Koen of NY—sailed with us on a brisk autumn morning. We found 11 striped bass up to 23 pounds as well as some bluefish very close to home. Two keeper stripers and a 9-pound blue were taken home for a weekend fish feast for family and friends.
We ended the week on Sunday morning with less dramatic results. We, along with all the other anglers out that day, had to deal with wind and rough seas and we couldn’t get to our regular haunts in pursuit of keeper striped bass—which was the fish of choice for the party, including Tony Caserta and his father and brother. They had to settle for porgies and sea bass and schoolie stripers because they weren’t interested in fishing for blues. Although they didn’t get what they’d come for, the family took home a few of the porgies for the table.
Remember that we’ll be pulling the boat out of the water around November 10, and our weekends are filling in quickly, so we’re encouraging all anglers to call us now to book their dates.
