Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had our last hurrah with three trips for the week.
On Friday morning we had first-timers Ted Dumbauld of New Canaan and his 10-year-old son, Teddy. From the moment we left the dock and made our first stop just off of Manresa Island, the Dumbaulds had non-stop action with schoolie bass on the surface—and brought in 38, all of which were released.
The afternoon trip was with return client, Marc Pfefferle; he brought along three of his New York City business associates. This time we had to travel across the Sound, where they nailed 25 striped bass and a few bluefish working under the birds around Eaton’s Neck.
The final trip of the season was with Vic Tatara of New Jersey and three of his buddies from New York. It was a very slow start, and we traveled to all of our regular hot spots with no results. Finally, after a couple of hours, we found schoolie bass around the Norwalk Islands, and they caught 13 up to 23”.
“My Bonnie” will be pulled out of the water next week, and we’ll be heading for Sebastian, Florida, the day after Thanksgiving. The Florida bay boat will be launched around December 1 and we’ll be fishing in the Indian River and the Sebastian Inlet until the middle of April ’07.
I want to thank all of my clients for their confidence in me this year. It was a fruitful season except for some patches of bad weather that prevented us from getting out of our harbor. Please watch my Florida Fishing Reports to see what’s going on down there; perhaps some of you will look me up if you’re in my area over the winter.
Have a great holiday season!
