Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

On Monday morning we sailed with regulars, Murray Verlin and Colleen McCourtney of Stamford and NYC. This time Colleen's sister, Mary McCourtney, visiting from Wisconsin, landed a 21-pound striped bass, measuring 38.5", while we were fishing around the Norwalk Islands--using sandworms. The fish was returned to the water after having its picture taken. Murray also got a keeper that morning, and everyone got into porgies up to 16". To keep things interesting we also caught some bluefish, with the largest weighing 8 pounds.
Friday morning's trip was with Mitch Kreuch of Darien and three of his business colleagues. Winds were high, but so were their spirits--after catching seven striped bass, including one keeper--off of Green's Ledge Light.
In the afternoon that same day we had Lee Mitchell of Darien and his friend, Fred Sutton of Ruston, LA. The seas were even rougher than they were in the morning, but the boys limited out on keeper bass (with a total of stripers), some bluefish up to 8 pounds and a jumbo porgy measuring 18"
