Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tuesday's trip was booked by Dan Faricy of Boise ID, who treated two Greenwich residents to a day aboard "My Bonnie". His guests were father and son David and T.J. Sarda. They had a great morning catching bluefish on the surface about four miles offshore. Again, the action was continuous for the anglers--both with surface plugs and a fly rod.
On Wednesday we had aboard William Banks of Darien and his grandson, Jack McEwan of Durham NC. It was a wonderful day of fishing, with blues up to 13 pounds, as well as one striper measuring 26", caught on jigs. When we moved to the middle of the Sound, we plugged up a different body of 4-6 pound blues very close to the surface.
Thursday morning we had two anglers with us who were back after a trip the previous week. Jim Winters of Norwalk and his father-in-law, Peter Burster of Port St. Lucie, FL, got large bluefish up to 11 pounds and a 17.5 pound striped bass--all caught on sandworms. We saw a school of false albacore while we were fishing in deep water, but they were too elusive for my passengers.
We ended the week on Sunday, with Brookfield CT residents, Gary Gaudioso, his brother, Gig, and his son, Mark--all first timers with "My Bonnie". We began the morning plugging up bluefish on the surface two miles off of Copp's, after which we moved closer to shore, where we found schoolie bass and some large blues up to nine pounds. The group also caught some nice porgies, with the larging measuring 17".
