Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Our most-recent passengers were "My Bonnie" first-timers, Michelle and Anthony Chowtai of Queens NY. We left the dock at 7:30am and made our way eastward, where we found fish breaking the surface. We presumed they were bluefish, but they turned out to be striped bass, and we landed 15–-with two keepers in the lot--as well as a few blues mixed in.
After two hours of working this school we moved towards the middle of the Sound, and chunked up another four stripers.
It's been hit and miss with large striped bass for the past two weeks. You might find them in large numbers at one spot in the early morning, but they're nowhere to be found a few hours later. They might return the next day, but not necessarily. No one has been able to figure out what's going on locally, but we're all hoping for more consistency in the weeks to come.
There's lots of bait schools around, but the fish aren't necessarily under them.
