Fising Report

Capt. Tommy Dodd
April 24, 2012
Jaco - Saltwater Fishing Report

The offshore fishing from Los Suenos has been good, though the bite has been a bit further out than usual. The best bite has been about 45 – 55 miles from Los Suenos.

If you can manage to make it out that far, you can expect between ten to twenty bites in a day. There have been a lot of sailfish, a few marlins, and some big Dorado out there.

Fortunately, the weather has been perfect for the run - flat and glassy seas with sunny cloudless skies has been the norm.

Inshore fishing has been best to the south of Los Suenos. Expect roosterfish, snappers and groupers in plenty in your thinking about inshore.

Costa Rica has long been recognized as one of the world’s best sport fishing destinations. Costa Rica's waters literally teem with big game fish: Dorado averaging 40 pounds, Big Yellow fin tuna and one of the largest concentrations of big Pacific sailfish found anywhere. In fact, Costa Rica boasts one of the healthiest billfish fisheries in the world. Unusually calm waters and short rides to the fishing grounds cement the country’s place at the top of the big game fishing destinations.
