Anna Maria Fishing Charters - Fishing Update

Capt. Tom Chaya
April 8, 2013
Anna Maria - Saltwater Fishing Report

April traditionally is the peak of King mackerel fishing. The cooler than normal and rough conditions pushed they're run a few weeks back. Target bait schools hovering on hard bottom from 20 feet on out. Twenty to thirty pound test spinning gear should slow down the bigger smokers. Schools of spanish mackerel are around the areas reefs and deeper grass. Bay fishing has been steady and should continue as the water warms. Plenty of trout are around the edges of the sandbars and deep grass in Anna Maria sound. A few schools of roaming reds are hitting shiners around the mangrove islands. Some nice snook are biting in the tide channels around the Manatee river. Porter Summers from Winter Haven released a 41 and a 38 inch snook in South Sarasota Bay. Bluefish, pompano, and flounder also hit the box. Tom Chaya
