Aug 13, 2013 - Fishing Report

Capt. Tom Chaya
August 13, 2013
Anna Maria - Saltwater Fishing Report

Snook have been in better numbers around the passes and structure. During the heat of the summer they will bite the best in early morning or at night. Large shrimp, pinfish or large shiners are the best baits. Reds have been roaming around the mangroves with no set pattern. We had good luck following and casting into schools of mullet. Most of the bigger trout have spawned leaving lots of undersized ones. It is best to keep moving over the deeper grass to find some gator sized. Fishing the frying bait schools produced numerous mackerel, lots of good sized blues along with jacks and ladyfish. Mangrove snapper are hitting small baits over bridge structure and reefs. Reducing the size of tackle will get you better action. Tom Chaya
